Walking Humbly with God: Micah 6:8
Micah 6:8 (ESV)
“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
Context
Micah speaks to a people who had become focused on outward religious practices while neglecting the heart of God’s commands. This verse is a call back to the essentials of faith: living justly, loving kindness, and walking humbly in dependence on God.
Devotional
Micah 6:8 highlights that humility is not just a posture—it’s a way of life. Walking humbly with God means recognizing our need for Him and aligning our lives with His character. It’s about setting aside pride and self-sufficiency to follow His lead, trusting that His ways are higher than ours. Humility also shapes how we treat others, driving us to act with justice and kindness, reflecting the heart of God. In a world that often glorifies power and self-promotion, this verse reminds us that true greatness is found in humble obedience to God.
Practical Tip
Identify one way you can “walk humbly” this week—whether it’s seeking God’s guidance in a decision, putting someone else’s needs before your own, or showing kindness in an unexpected way. Ask God to help you reflect His humility in your actions and relationships.
